Dr Virginia Chan has more than 10-year experience in clincial psychology and mental health services. Dr Chan specialises in clinical psychotherapy, psychology education and training. Dr Chan provides evidence based psychological assessment, counselling, psychotherapy, marriage and family therapy. She also offers evidence based training to empower helping professionals and caretakers, in collaboration with various universities.
Dr Chan has expertise in conducting evidence-based psychotherapy across mental health status, including distress, stress, anxiety, depression, parenting issues, couple and family issues, interpersonal issues, addictive behaviors and sleeping problems. Clients group includes children and families, adolescents, adults and elderlies.
Dr Chan specialises in both clinical psychology and public health. She has expertise in building trust and rapport with the client, to aware and handle his/her disturbances. She has been working as psychologist for various research projects of universities. Client group includes students and parents who have high risk factors in mental health (e.g. conduct problem, school refusal, addiction, anxiety, depression and self-harm, gifted and marginal intelligence, SEN etc), teachers who have sleep and/or mental health problems, elderly with chronic illness. She adopts evidence-based approaches include cognitive behavioural therapy, motivational interviewing, play therapy, marriage counseling and family therapy, narrative therapy and positive psychology.
